About Us

Digital Community is a small computer and internet company based near Caernarfon, North Wales.

We aim to provide affordable and effective web sites, computer services and support for small to medium sized businesses, charities, local and national community groups or any non governmental organisations. Through our philosophy of maintaining low overhead costs, we can provide concessionary rates to community groups and charities. The associates of Digital Community have a proven and broad knowledge of many technologies that allows us to tailor website solutions to your needs. Inhouse skills include; Flash and actionscript, database creation using PHP and mySQL, HTML and Javascript coding, as well as a broad knowledge of media editing software and design creation.

The Managing Directors of Digital Community are both qualified to Post graduate level in Interactive Media Design (awarded by Lampeter University) and have worked within the IT industry since 2000. We work flexibly within a network of other programmers and designers allowing us the scope to take on large projects that demand a varied skill base and fast delivery.

Digital Community hold an Ethical and Ecological Policy. We are constantly adding to this policy and see it as integral to our company ethos.

Our banking for the company is with the Cooperative Bank due to their stance on Ethical and Ecological issues.

Electricity supplied to our office is through Ecotricity, a company that offsets your electricity use with renewable energy.

All our hosting renewed or bought from September 2007 is carbon neutral with no increase in costs to you.

We recycle parts where we can on our equipment and are gradually replacing our equipment with more energy efficient products as and when they need replacing.

All our stationary is made from 100% recycled paper.

All our packaging is made from 100% recycled material where possible.

All our lighting is from florescent bulbs or energy saving bulbs. We turn off all appliances, including transformers, when not in use.

We minimise our travel to clients, preferring to use electronic contact as much as possible. This benefits our clients, as we can keep our costs low, and the environment. Where we can we will use public transport to reach our clients.

We only use ethical means of promotion for our customers websites as well as our own. This means we don't endorse spamming techniques, use of pop ups, surf exchanges or web link farms, to name a few, as a means of website promotion or link generation.

We support charities and non-profit organisations by offering a reduced rate on both commissioned work and website packages. Occasionally we will work for free.

We prefer to use email rather than post to cut down on paper use.

Cleaning products used around the office, etc. are all eco-friendly.

We recycle all used products, including our customers' used and surplus CD ROMs, where facilities exist and conserve water use.
